A True Friend

Is someone who...
believes in you
is happy for you
you can trust with anything
looks for ways to help you
celebrates your accomplishments
makes sacrifices for you
listens to you as much as they talk to you
is honest with you
goes the extra mile for you

...A true friend doesn't...
judge
ask how far, how high, how long, how much
look for ways to be better than you
come and go
make excuses

This weekend is full of celebrating true friends.  As a good friend prepares to walk down the aisle, we will shower her.  As a dear cousin is weeks away from welcoming her first bundle of joy, we will shower her and her baby girl.  My life is better because of friends like these, and I couldn't be more thrilled to share in celebrating what lies ahead for them.  Happy weekend!

3 Going on 13

It's going too fast.  I know I say it over and over, but time really needs to slow down.

In so many ways, she is absolutey three.  The needing, the whining, it's all there, but then, bam, she's a teenager.

Since she was nine months old, she has always called TOH 'Gaga'...(even before the Lady herself hit it big)...we have no clue where it came from, but it has stuck.  Until this weekend.  She came clean.  She told him point blank in her 'teenager voice' that she doesn't like 'Gaga' anymore.  And even worse, she doesn't want to call him something cute like 'Daddy' but rather 'DAD.'  That's it.  DAD.  A sad moment for us.

A conversation yesterday:
Bug: 'Mama, do you were big girl pants when you sleep?'
Me:  'Yes, Bug.'
Bug:  'And they stay dry all night long?'
Me:  'Um, yes, they do.'
Bug:  'Wow, you're really somethin.'
Not exaggerating at.all.

And yet another bathroom diary entry...(remember that previous bathroom post...there is something with us and this crazy topic!)
Today Monkey tells us she has to go to the potty.  So all four of us run in together because you know when potty training is going on, you make a big of a deal out of EVERY trip.  We get her all set up and then Bug suddenly has words of 3 year old wisdom...
'Okay honey, all you have to do is push your belly up and down, up and down, really hard and then it will come out!'
Two seconds later, we've got a pooper.
Who knew it was that easy?? She may need to be renamed the "Potty Whisperer" because this girl's got some kinda magic.

...why I love nice weather...

This says it all.

Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Responsibilities.

This weekend, I will have none.

No diapers to change.
No mouths (other than my own) to feed.
No toys to put away.
No baths to give.
No whining to hear.

And although I love both of the little people
that come along with all of these things,
every mama needs a little 'girl time!'

And for the record...TOH rocks.
BIG time.
